Materials management is moving up the value chain.  The materials manager is moving into areas of greater responsibility and looking at the bigger picture while trying to make the ordering process as automatic as possible. The focus of the materials manager will evolve into a more strategic function such as introducing best practices from other industries.  Their supply chain management challenge transcends healthcare.  The companies that bring the best ideas from all industries to material managers will be seen as “high value” suppliers.

Materials managers are looking for tools that will help them demonstrate their value.  Anything that will take exceptions, e.g. human intervention, out of the process is looked upon as beneficial.  Next are systems that will give them insights with all types of measurements, which will allow them to spot discrepancies before they become problems.  This proactive approach utilized in other industries will allow materials managers to gain maximum control and minimize costs.

Supply chain management issues will continue to drive the thinking and decision making criteria of materials managers and members of the corporate-suite for years to come.  Originally focused on cost cutting, emphasis is now being placed on whole new ways of doing business.  Attention has moved from looking at process steps to questioning roles, relationships, responsibilities and overall processes across the institution.  Not just a healthcare issue, supply chain management is being addressed in every industry with theory and application moving rapidly.

Small to Medium Rural Institutions

Non-metropolitan IHN’s and non-IHN’s that are looking for cost effective tools with selectable features that fit their specific needs, that will help them reduce costs and inefficiencies associated with materials management.

Small urban hospitals operate at a 0.5% total margin as compared to all U.S. hospitals operating at a 4.9% total margin.

Choice can demonstrate an ability to increase these margins with a solution that can be implemented in just a few weeks at an affordable price.

Medium to Large IHN’s and
Enterprise-wide Resource Planning (ERP) Customers

Mid to large IHN’s who have outgrown the capabilities of their materials management system but are not about to replace their entire enterprise-wide system.  Because, the cost of supporting these older systems in the form of hardware and software is becoming prohibitive, they are open to looking at plug-and-play, leading edge, and lower risk alternatives.

Choice systems operate on readily available, standard PCs.  All Choice systems are capable of being fully interfaced with all the popular ERP systems.  Interfacing is available at a fixed cost with a quick turn-around.  Choice Systems has forged key relationships with a number of leading Healthcare vendors as well as strong integration with leading ERP systems to seamlessly provide Supply Chain components to these customers.
